Yasemin Elci

Yasemin Elçi (b. Istanbul) is a curator and journalist based in Luxembourg. She received her BA from Dartmouth College (USA) and her high school diploma from Robert College (Turkey). She worked as a teaching assistant in photography classes at Dartmouth College (USA) and Aalto University (Finland).

She was the Director of Leica Gallery & Academy Istanbul between 2016-2019 where she curated exhibitions of renowned names including Thomas Hoepker, Horst P. Horst, Bruno Barbey, Werner Bischof as well as contemporary photographers from Iran, Germany, Finland and Turkey. She worked as the Director of Gallery x-ist (Istanbul) between 2009-2016, representing contemporary artists and exhibiting them in international art fairs including Art Basel Hong Kong, Arco Madrid, Vienna Art Fair, Art Dubai, Art Stage Singapore, Shanghai Art Fair, Unseen Amsterdam and Photo London.

She is a nominator for the Leica Oskar Barnack Award since 2021 and she was in the jury of CineEast Film Festival Luxembourg in 2020.

Elçi is a member of AICA (International Association of Art Critics) Turkey. She has written 200+ articles in English and Turkish for various publications including The Luxembourg Times, Artsy, Harper’s Bazaar, Art Unlimited, Radikal, Milliyet Sanat, Hurriyet, Sanat Dunyamız. She hosted a radio show on the art scene in Luxembourg in 2020-2021 promoting contemporary art and photography in the region. She gave talks in London, Paris and Istanbul on collecting art, the photography market, art writing and navigating in the art world as an artist.

She advises private art collectors and collaborates with art foundations, museums and galleries on exhibitions, talks and artist residency programs.
